Alexey Kovalev, MD, PhD
Alexey Vyacheslavovich Kovalev is a medical scientist specializing in regenerative medicine and tissue engineering, and the scientific architect of Regentron’s in-vivo bioreactor systems, biocomposite cell-aggregate engineering, and minimally invasive delivery capabilities. He remains actively engaged in research and clinical practice across bone, cartilage, and ocular repair. He graduated from Ivanovo State Medical Institute in 1993, completed postgraduate training in Histology, Cytology and Cell Biology in 1996, and in 1997 earned the degree of Candidate of Medical Sciences — the Russian doctoral degree equivalent to a PhD — for experimental research on skin-wound healing. His early career included academic research and leadership of a licensed stem-cell laboratory in Moscow. He also holds specialist qualifications in surgery and ophthalmology.
Kovalev’s work covers cellular technologies, tissue regeneration, bioartificial organs, medical bioreactors, cellular spheroids, and bioprinting. He is the originator of four registered scientific directions, which continue to define Regentron’s research programme, spanning the restoration of injured organs inside in-vivo bioreactors with controlled nutrient media; tissue-engineering bioreactors using aerosol delivery of culture nutrient media; bone-marrow cell transplantation to support regeneration of the retina and optic nerve; and tissue-engineered skeletogenic membranes. His broader research includes bone, cartilage, skin, spinal-cord, and ocular repair.
Kovalev is the author and co-author of more than 150 scientific publications appearing in journals such as Tissue Engineering Part A, Acta Biomaterialia, ACS Omega, International Journal of Molecular Sciences, Journal of Bone Oncology, International Journal of Bioprinting, and Biomedical Optics Express. He holds 57 patents for inventions, with further filings in preparation.
Vladimir Mironov, MD, PhD
Professor Vladimir Mironov, MD, is a bioengineer, physician-scientist, and one of the pioneers of bioprinting. He earned his medical degree from Ivanovo State Medical Institute in 1977 and qualified as a Candidate of Medical Sciences at the Second Moscow Pirogov Medical Institute in 1980. His international career included research training in Germany and appointments in regenerative medicine and tissue biofabrication at the Medical University of South Carolina, followed by research work in Brazil.
Mironov helped establish the conceptual foundations of organ printing. He co-authored the landmark 2003 paper Organ Printing: Computer-Aided Jet-Based 3D Tissue Engineering, advanced scaffold-free bioprinting based on self-assembling tissue spheroids, and contributed to the development of the Fabion bioprinter. As a leading investigator, he helped produce the first reported functional and vascularized organ construct created through bioprinting—a mouse thyroid-gland construct. His later research includes magnetic-levitational bioassembly, viable human cartilage constructs assembled under microgravity aboard the International Space Station, vascularized organ construction, tissue spheroids, in-situ biofabrication, and space biomedicine. He serves on the Strategic Advisory Board of the International Society for Biofabrication and received the Society’s Senior Investigator Award in 2018. Konstantin Vagin
Konstantin Vagin is an entrepreneur and international investor with more than two decades of experience building, scaling, and exiting businesses across healthcare, pharmaceutical distribution, wellness hospitality, and real estate. His expertise spans corporate strategy, financing, governance, international partnerships, market entry, and the development of operating teams. He graduated with honors in economics from Ivanovo State University in 2002.
Vagin brings extensive pharmaceutical distribution and commercialization experience, including ownership-level involvement in one of Russia’s largest national pharmaceutical distributors. His work has covered market-entry strategy, localized clinical and regulatory execution, and last-mile delivery infrastructure for international pharmaceutical products. His broader investment record includes complex cross-border developments and the sale of a major property-development company to a strategic industry participant.
In 2023, Konstantin co-founded Regentron and established its UAE base. As Chief Strategy Officer, he leads corporate strategy, financing, governance, investor and partner relations, operating-team development, and the international positioning of Regentron’s patent estate. He is also a principal in an operating Abu Dhabi healthcare venture, providing Regentron with an established local platform and relationships across the healthcare ecosystem. This presence supports validation activities, formal regulatory engagement through recognized processes and qualified advisers, and the development of regional clinical and institutional partnerships. In parallel, he is developing a wellness and preventive-medicine platform including projects in Montenegro and Italy.
